I recently had the honor of welcoming the fellows from Springboard to Opportunities to the Mississippi Capitol. These dedicated women are learning how to effectively influence policies, systems, and communities through advocacy.

About Springboard to Opportunities

Springboard to Opportunities is a nonprofit organization committed to working alongside residents of federally subsidized housing as they pursue their goals in education, employment, and life. Their mission is to provide personalized support, connecting families to essential services, coaching, and opportunities to build social capital. By listening to residents and responding to their needs, Springboard ensures that all programs and initiatives align with community voices and evolve to meet shifting needs.

Addressing Food Insecurity

This summer, when Governor Reeves chose not to participate in the federally subsidized summer feeding program, Springboard stepped in to fill the gap. They provided a $40 supplement per child to a cohort of families, ensuring that children had access to nutritious meals during the summer months. Scaling this program statewide could feed 324,000 children and bring more than $34 million in federal benefits directly to families in need.

Looking Ahead

As we continue to support initiatives that make a tangible difference, I am inspired by the fellows' dedication and the impactful work of Springboard to Opportunities. Their commitment to empowering families and fostering community success is a testament to the positive change we can achieve together.
