Councilman Hartley & Rep. Summers Host Ward 5 Day

August 17, 2022 – Jackson, MS – Jackson City Councilman Vernon Hartley, alongside Representative Zakiya Summers, is hosting Ward 5 Day on Saturday, August 20, 2022, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Livingston Park, which is located just inside Jackson Zoo entrance next to the train depot. 


The day will be a time for community members to engage, network, fellowship, and celebrate with one another, elected officials, other leaders, and vendors. Central Mississippi Health Services will be on hand to provide COVID-19 vaccinations. Jackson Association of Educators and the Jackson City NAACP are sponsoring a school supply giveaway. Other vendors include Mississippi Votes, Hinds County Reentry Program, Bean Path, Jackson Association of Neighborhoods, and many more. Door prizes will also be raffled, including a Galaxy Tablet donated by Voice of Calvary Ministries and 200 sweet treat cards to Sal and Mookie’s! 


Lunch boxes will be served on a first come basis thanks to Word of Life. In addition, free admission tickets will be given to the first 100 people, sponsored by the City of Jackson Parks and Recreation Department and Trustmark Bank. DJ Wildman will provide entertainment with a special performance by local artist Adrena. 


Rep. Summers will also make a special presentation from the state of Mississippi in the amount of $100,000 to support upgrades to Livingston Park. It will be a great day for the whole family in West Jackson, and all are invited!
